About
His name is Tomasz Siwek, residing in Tychy at Rewolucji Październikowej 5 Street, apt. 23. He’s an ordinary man who somehow manages to make ends meet by selling soda to construction workers. He is a member of the party, which is why his neighbours and co-workers who belong to the Solidarity despise him. When Thomas happens on construction workers’ protest and starts to sing “We Want God” emotionally, he is captured by the Security Service. Kutz tells a story about the social and political awakening of the main character, which may have happened by chance, but will last despite another blow of the historical wind. In the background there is also the Silesian attachment to home and the symbol of wife as a tower-of-strength, which the director had already presented for instance in the “Pearl in the Crown”. “The Reverted” was made while Kutz was waiting for the opportunity to produce another film – “Śmierć jak kromka chleba”. In the end, both films were screened the same year at the Gdynia Film Festival. The Golden Lions were awarded to the “Reverted”.
