About
The year 1883 marked the beginning of changes in the life of Eleanor Marx. The bitterness after her father, the famous Karl’s death, is replaced by love. A passionate, unusual affection she feels towards Edward Aveling, unaware that in a few years the relationship will turn her microcosm, financial status and finally – her life completely upside down.
Susanna Nicchiarelli in her sensitive, very personal portrait of the daughter of the author of Capital lets us hear her voice calling for change. To observe the never-ending attempts to delegalize child labour, equal rights for men and women, turn her father’s thoughts into action. The counterpoint to the attempts at financial liberation of the oppressed society are scenes from family life; imbued with illusions, lies, unspoken grief. When it comes to the latter, although physically she’s always next to somebody, the main character remains lonely and misunderstood.
Eleanor Marx fought for others’ dignity and emancipation her whole life. Miss Marx fights for freedom for her own.
