Jóhann Jóhannsson

Composer / Music producer
Jóhann Jóhannsson is an Icelandic composer and producer of contemporary music. He has created several dozen soundtracks, including for "Prisoners", starring Jake Gyllenhall and Hugh Jackman, and "For Ellen" starring Paul Dano, screened during the second edition of Transatlantyk. Critics praise Jóhannsson's music for its elegance, beauty and the air of mystery that lingers in it. He has released records with the cult labels 4AD and Fat Cat. His works are a combination of both classical orchestration and cold, Scandinavian electronic music. His most famous album, Englabörn, received 8.9 out of 10 points, an exceptionally high score, in Pitchfork Media, a major alternative music webzine. In his over fifteen-year career, he has worked with such figures as Mark Almond, Barry Adamson, Laetitia Sadier, or Stephen O'Malley. Widely acclaimed, he has performed in the Parisian Pompidou Centre, London's Barbican Centre, and other major venues.
