A mesmerizing film about coming of age by one of the masters of French cinema. The plot of Being 17 takes place in the French suburbs. Thomas – a boy of African descent, an adopted son of poor farmers living in high mountains – enjoys spending time in solitude. Damien, a rich son of the town's doctor also does not have many friends. Although their relation starts off with a fight, as soon as their families become friends, the boys spend with each other more and more time. A film by Andre Techine, the director of the acclaimed Wild Reeds, is an intimate portrait of adolescent life of individuals who are still searching for identity and explore their sexuality. The film was presented as a part of this year's Berlinale Film Festival.
